Lock & Key Ceremony

Family, friends, local officials, and community members gathered at the Smithville Veterans Memorial Park for the Class of 2018 Lock & Key Ceremony.  This is an annual event where Smithville High School Seniors who have enlisted in the military place a lock on the fence of the Veteran's Memorial Park promising to return safely and remove the lock upon completion of service to the country.
Smithville High School was honored to have Briley Davis Yancey - Army Combat Medic participate in the ceremony.
Former Mayor, Mark Bunte, Smithville ISD Superintendent, Cheryl Burns, Smithville Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, April Daniels, Smithville Mayor, Scott Saunders, Jr., and Brenda Coon made special comments, lead the prayer and Pledge of Allegiance, sang the National Anthem, shared a special message, and presented the lock to Briley.
