We are looking forward to our next Student Advisory Committee meeting! Eight SHS students were chosen to be part of the Superintendent's advisory group to help bring fresh ideas and creative solutions to Smithville ISD. They will be meeting monthly and, in addition to helping Mrs. Burns problem-solve and being a voice for their peers, they will be testing new recipes for our Child Nutrition Department! 🤤

Don't forget that tomorrow, September 20th, is a Student Holiday and Staff Workday!

REMINDER: Join the School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) for their first meeting of the year on September 25th at NOON. It will be held via Zoom for any and all to participate. Use the link to connect: https://bit.ly/3TykJww

In celebration of Constitution Day, our Juniors and Seniors were each given their own copy of the Constitution and took a deep dive into the meaning of each phrase and how it relates to our lives in 2024. Additionally, students read the Preamble and gave a quick history on the creation and importance of the US Constitution during the morning announcements.

Jr. FFA dues will be collected ONLY at the October FFA Meeting on Monday October 21st at 6PM in the High School Cafeteria.
Dues will be $7 and cover Jr. FFA members for the entire 2024-2025 school year. Any Elementary or Junior High student who wishes to be apart of Smithville FFA in order to show will need to pay dues.
Dues will be collected in the form of cash or checks payable to Smithville FFA.
My apologies for those who were told dues would be $5, the state has a set price of $7 so that is all we will require.

Even Seniors are not too old to watch School House Rock! Senior History classes learned about the goals of the Preamble today, and began their dive into the Founding Fathers’ intention with historical documents.

DRILL CONCLUDED: Thanks for your cooperation.
DRILL IN PROGRESS: A lockdown drill is currently in progress at the High School as part of our safety and security training and education. No one will be allowed on or off the campus during the drill. Thank you!

It's Celebrate Freedom Week! During this week, which falls every year during the week surround 9/17 (or Constitution Day) students learn about the intent, meaning, and importance of the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution.
